Comprehensive subsurface investigations to detect fresh water aquifers and assess long-term water availability for the DHA Bahawalpur development.

For the Ground Water Sustainability Study – DHA Bahawalpur, GAD's partners with Sentrum Engineering Services (SES) to address two critical challenges: identifying viable fresh water aquifers within the subsurface to support the development's needs, and characterizing the underground geology and lithology to determine potential groundwater potential without the initial expense of high-cost drilling.
The use of non-invasive resistivity surveys acted as an authentic and cheap solution by estimating target borehole depths and water quality/quantity without the need for exploratory drilling.
The study provided critical data on subsurface strata and bearing capacity, helping architects and developers avoid costly mistakes during commercial building development.
Advanced numerical modeling techniques supported sustainable water resource management and guided future well-field development for the area's long-term water security.
SES employed advanced geophysical investigation techniques, specifically Electrical Resistivity Surveys, to analyze subsurface soil and rock resistivity. This non-invasive method provided detailed insights into underground formations without disturbing the site.
By integrating hydrogeological and resistivity data, the team created detailed subsurface maps to delineate potential aquifer zones, allowing for informed decisions on where to pinpoint well locations. The study was conducted alongside a comprehensive geotechnical investigation for high-rise commercial buildings in Sector B, ensuring both water availability and structural stability.
